Jackie Reed, DVM

Dr. Jackie Reed

Dr. Reed grew up in nearby Carrollton, Illinois and started job shadowing local veterinarians at the age of 12.  She was very determined at a young age to become a veterinarian.  Dr. Reed received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 2006 and her veterinary degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011.  Since then, she has been employed as both a small animal and mixed animal practitioner in the surrounding communities.  It was a dream come true whenever she had the opportunity to purchase Macoupin Veterinary Clinic from Dr. Sandino in January 2020.  Since the transition, she has enjoyed working along side Dr. Sandino and the remarkable team at Macoupin Veterinary Services as well as meeting our great clients and patients.
Dr. Reed is passionate about preventative care and has a special interest in internal medicine and soft tissue surgery.  One of her favorite parts of being a veterinarian is seeing patients from puppy and kittenhood through their adult and senior years and getting to know her clients.  She has a soft spot for orange cats which led her to adopt one of her patients named Thomas from Macoupin County Animal Control.  Thomas has been the perfect addition to her family along with her senior yellow Labrador Retriever, Gator.  Gator's many allergy issues have kept Dr. Reed on her toes with aiding clients in managing their pet's food and environmental allergies.  Helping Gator to live his best life as a senior pup has fueled her passion for pain management.  Outside of work, Dr. Reed loves being a wife and mother to two wonderful children, and spending time with her family.  She enjoys taking Gator for walks, gardening, hiking, and horseback riding.  Dr. Reed enjoys attending sports events with her family and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues.

Dr. Steven Sandino

Dr. Sandino moved to Carlinville and started his career with Macoupin Veterinary Clinic in 1983.  He became a partner in the practice in 1986 and eventually the sole owner in 1995.  Dr. Sandino officially retired on December 31, 2024. Dr. Sandino's retirement marks the end of an impressive 41 years of service to the community. After years of dedication, he is now enjoying his well-earned retirement in South Carolina. While he may not be as present at the clinic, there's still a chance to catch a glimpse of him if he pops in for a visit! Wishing him all the best in this new chapter of his life!
